Preventing and Treating Colon Cancer: A Lifestyle Approach to Health

 

Excluding skin cancers, colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer diagnosed in both men and women in the United States. Colorectal cancer is the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States when men and women are considered separately, and the second leading cause when both sexes are combined. It is expected to cause about 50,830 deaths during 2013. Dr. Huey Nguyen, board certified gastroenterologist with Gastroenterology of Southern Indiana, will discuss the ABCs of colon cancer and how specific lifestyle strategies can help prevent colon cancer on March 5 at 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. at the medical offices of the Gastroenterology of Southern Indiana (a subsidiary of Gastroenterology Health Partners) located at 2630 Grant Line Road in New Albany, IN.  In addition to Dr. Nguyen’s presentation, Lifestyle Nutrition & Wellness Specialist, Barbara Day, M.S., R.D., C.N. will be presenting a power point presentation entitled Preventing and Treating Cancer: A Lifestyle Approach to Health. The presentation will cover the specifics for each lifestyle behavior: diet, exercise, and high stress levels and how each can affect your risk of colon cancer.
