Kellogg’s Rice Krispies® Treat® Witch’s Hat

I made this Witch’s Hat with my granddaughter, Madelyn.  She had fun molding the witch’s  hat and decorating it  with colorful writing icing tubes.   Great activity to make with your kids and grandkids, too. The best part is you get to eat your creation and it taste’s good, too.

Nutritional Information Per Serving: 210 calories, 2 grams protein, 5 grams of fat,  39 grams of CHO, 1 grams of fiber,  110 mg sodium.

  • 1 package (6 oz, 1 cup) semi-sweet chocolate morsels
  • 3 tbsp butter or margarine
  • 1 package (10 oz, about 40) regular marshmallows or 4 cups miniature marshmallows
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies®
  • Canned frosting or decorating gel
  • Assorted Candies


In a large saucepan melt chocolate morsels and butter over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir in until completely melted. Remove from heat. Add Rice Krispies. Stir until well coated.  Cool slightly.

Using buttered hands shape 2 cups of the cereal mixture into 6-inch disk for hat brim.  Place on serving dish.  Shape remaining mixture into 7-inch tall cone with a 4-inch diameter base for crown of hat. Secure crown to brim with toothpicks.  Decorate with frosting and/or candies.  Best if served the same day.


In microwave-safe bowl heat butter, chocolate and marshmallows on HIGH for 3 minutes, stirring after 2 minutes. Stir until smooth.  Follow steps 2 and 3.  Microwave times may vary.

Note: For best results, use fresh marshmallows. 1 jar (7 oz) marshmallow crème can be substituted for marshmallows. Diet, reduced calorie or tub margarine is NOT recommended. Store no more than 2 days at room temperature in airtight container.
